Berlin Brandenburg Airport
BERLIN,GERMANY
At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, lighting is more than a functional necessity - it is part of the passenger experience and the architectural identity of one of Germany's most important transport hubs.
For this landmark project, TRIECO delivered a highly customized lighting solution incorporating its Split-Type Track Light System, combining architectural integration, intelligent control and modular lighting technology to meet the complex requirements of a modern international airport.
GLOBAL LANDMARK
Large-scale transport environments demand lighting that can perform consistently across diverse spaces while remaining visually integrated with the architecture.
At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the lighting solution was developed to support passenger circulation, spatial orientation and overall visual clarity throughout the terminal. Clean, precise illumination complements the architectural language while helping create a welcoming and well-structured environment for travelers.
MODULAR BY DESIGN
At the heart of the solution is TRIECO's split-type concept, separating the Universal In-Track Driver from the GR6D Standard Light Source Module. This modular architecture allows power supply and optical components to be configured independently, providing greater flexibility for different lighting requirements while simplifying installation and future maintenance.
The modules can be combined without tools and are designed to work with various standard track systems, making the solution particularly suitable for large projects where adaptability and installation efficiency are critical.

FLEXIBLE IN USE
The tool-free combination of the in-track driver and GR6D module simplifies installation, while the modular system architecture makes individual lighting components easier to configure or replace as requirements evolve. This also helps reduce the need to manage multiple combinations of drivers and optical modules across a large project.
For an airport expected to operate and evolve over decades, this flexibility provides significant long-term value.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The lighting upgrade delivers 40% energy savings while maintaining the high level of illumination required in a busy airport environment.
High-CRI lighting enhances the natural appearance of materials, interiors and people, helping create a clearer and more comfortable visual environment. By combining efficient LED technology with intelligent control, the system reduces unnecessary energy consumption without compromising the passenger experience.

INTELLIGENT & ADAPTIVE
Airport lighting requirements change throughout the day according to daylight conditions, passenger activity and operational needs.
Within the project, smart dimming and dynamic lighting control enable illumination levels and atmosphere to respond more precisely to different areas and operating conditions. Rather than treating the terminal as one uniform environment, the lighting can be adapted to support the specific function and character of each space. This creates a more responsive lighting environment while further improving energy efficiency.
ENGINEERING MEETS AESTHETICS
The project brings together the rigor of German engineering with carefully controlled architectural lighting. High-quality illumination supports visual comfort and passenger orientation, while the modular track-based solution maintains a refined and coherent ceiling appearance. Combined with intelligent lighting strategies and the project's sustainability objectives, the system demonstrates how technical performance and architectural aesthetics can work as one.
The result supports the airport's broader ambition for an efficient, comfortable and sustainable terminal environment, aligned with its LEED Gold objectives.
