In an automotive service workshop, lighting has a direct impact on visibility, efficiency and the quality of maintenance work. From vehicle inspection and repair bays to circulation areas and heavy-duty service zones, technicians need clear and consistent illumination across a large and highly functional space.
For this Mercedes-Benz 4S Store in Germany, TRIECO's Universal Retrofit Module was used to upgrade the existing fluorescent trunking installation while retaining the original rail infrastructure. Instead of removing the complete lighting system, the conventional fluorescent tubes were replaced with modern LED modules, making the renovation faster, simpler and far less disruptive to daily workshop operations.
As seen throughout the service area, the retrofit modules form long, continuous lines of light above work bays, vehicle lifts and maintenance zones. The linear layout works naturally with the existing workshop structure, providing broad and uniform illumination across vehicles and working surfaces while maintaining a clean, organized ceiling appearance.
The trunking retrofit concept is particularly valuable in an operating 4S workshop, where lengthy reconstruction can interfere with service capacity. By reusing the existing trunking and electrical infrastructure, the upgrade significantly reduces installation work and makes large-scale replacement easier to manage. Tool-free module replacement also simplifies future maintenance and helps minimize downtime.
Compared with traditional fluorescent tubes, the LED retrofit module delivers higher lighting efficiency, more consistent light output and reduced maintenance requirements, while giving the existing lighting infrastructure a new service life. For a workshop with long operating hours and demanding visual tasks, this creates a more efficient and reliable lighting environment without the cost and complexity of a complete system replacement.
The result is a practical modernization tailored to the needs of automotive service: better light for detailed work, faster retrofit, and maximum use of the existing installation.
